The Services We Provide at D A Law
As you know, on Tuesday, March 31, 2020, Governor Pritzker extended the issued Executive Order directing all Illinois residents to stay at home until April 30, 2020. The Order also limits travel and restricts the operation of many businesses.
While the Order does affect the operation of certain businesses, law firms still qualify as an “essential business.”. This means that we are still able to assist you with your trust, estate, guardianship, probate, real estate, business planning and related legal matters. As this does temporarily limit and/or delay some of our capabilities we are striving for the least amount of interruption as possible.
For the safety of our employees and our clients, our office is currently operating with a limited number of onsite staff members, while the remainder of our employees are working remotely. In order to appropriately serve your needs, with the least amount of delay we are offering conference calls and videoconferencing. This applies to new clients looking to retain services, as well as our existing clientele.
During these unprecedented times, we understand that some of you may be concerned about how you will be able to execute the Trusts and ancillary documents we have already prepared. Please be advised that we have the capability to assist you in executing estate planning documents virtually. Prior to the extension of the stay at home order on March 26, 2020, Governor Pritzker signed Executive Order 2020-14, which provides for remote witnessing and notarizing of estate planning and other documents using audio-video communication. We are ready and able to finalize and implement your estate plan, remotely, with the help of our attorneys and staff. Alternatively, we can offer curb side service for the execution of your documents or if you are able to provide your own witnesses and a notary at home (these individuals cannot be related to otherwise named in the documents) we can assist you remotely to execute yourselves.
The courts are not hearing probate matters at this time and any open matters will need to be heard when the stay at home order is lifted and the courts reopen. Deeds cannot be recorded in person, at this time, however they can still be mailed and/or e-filed.
Tile companies remain open at this time and most have implemented drive up closings in an effort that creates a safe way for the community to continue the process of buying and selling of property.
Online services still exist to assist in the formation and renewal of Corporate and Limited Liability Companies. We thank you for your continued confidence in our firm and we remain committed to serving you.
We appreciate your patience, as we navigate a new way to serve our clients. If you have any questions, concerns or would like to schedule a call of any type, please contact us directly at 847-583-2244 or feel free to use the “contact us” tab to send an email. More importantly, please keep yourselves and your families safe and well.
